honeycomb grille

what color were these things originally? mine was kind of a sick tan/silver color that doesn't match anything else on the truck... so I painted it black. Figured if I put on a billet cover type grile, i don't want to see through to that color...

Just did the EXACT same thing a few days ago. I read somewhere it was a '99 thing where they had the silver honeycomb grill option.

Black looks fantastic! Mine was black, afraid it's fading; although this may have inspired me to re-paint it. Good job!

CK, what a coincidence. You did it the right way, looks good. I was skeer'd of breaking clips, I was running out of daylight, and didn't want to go back to auto parts store. good thing i had a couple rolls of the blue tape.

Silver was 99 only, 00+ was originally dark grey

same grey plastic on the rest of the truck. Its dyed plastic but UV breaks the color beading in it

I wonder if they even try to put some UV inhibitors in the plastic? like the awful Armadillo back from the avalanche:
