Recon Tailgate Light Bar

Which one do I need for my Supercrew 60" or 49" my truck is a 04?

Which one is better the Line of Fire or the other one? I don't want any amber on it b/c I have none on my truck.

Thanks

I have the 60" Plasmaglow Fire and Ice and it fits perfectly. It's also capable of being trimmed for beds that aren't as wide, but we don't have that issue.

The only color besides red is white for reverse lights. Has dim red for when your lights are on, bright red for when you hit the brakes, bright red half and half for when your turn signal is on, and white for reverse.

A few of my exhaust videos have it in there. I'll try to find them if you want. If you remember this guy was selling his, but I haven't seen any updates out of him lately. I can't say anything about the Recon because I've never had one, but I haven't had any issues out of the Plasmaglow.

I would recommend taking your tailgate off to make sure it's put on right (for whichever you go with). There isn't much space for finger room to install it with the tailgate on there. I did it, but it was a pain.

I ordered the White Lightning Recon light bar for my truck in a 60". It says it fits most full size trucks with non-flareside beds.

Just a question for folks who have a Recon tailgate bar, how hard was it to hardwire it to the wiring? I'm not planning on hard wiring it until the summer time, but I was wondering about what to expect once i venture out to do it.

Forgot to mention the wiring. For the Plasmaglow, I had to use one wire and tap into the brake lights. The other four run to a male end that you simply plug into the towing adapter.

I have the Recon White Lightning on mine.

For styleside beds you need the 60" bar and flaresides use the 49" bar.

You can just use the 4-pin trailer plug adapter and plug right into the connection on the back of your truck.

If you want to hard wire it you can simply cut off the end and splice it into the wiring for the trailer plug just behind the bumper.

I have the trailer tow package so I have the 7 and 4-pin wiring on one harness. I used the wire identification sheet included with my truck from the factory. This sheet is in the package that has the pigtail for the trailer tow controller. Once I knew what wires controlled each set of lights I simply used some easy splices from the auto store and tapped into the wires accordingly.

Ok thanks guys, I don't wanna lose my ability to use my Trailer plug in, seeing how I tow pretty often.

So what do I need to do?

Since the tailgate won't be visible when towing, you could simply unplug the light bar from the harness and plug in your trailer's connection, or you could hardwire the light bar into the wiring and still have access to the plug in for your trailer.

The 97-03 SCrew and 04 heritage SCrew have a narrower tailgate that the 04-08 NBS SCrews.

Carolinaboy32 --

Do you have the 7 pin connector from the factory installed on your truck?

Got my White Lightning in yesterday. Went out to test it and my pass side directional and brake portion of the strip didn't work. Tested in in my buddies truck later in the day and it worked fine... Guess I can go install a 7-pin and 4-pin harness this weekend

Why dont you just hardwire it to your truck? Then you dont need to buy the harness?

I have the 60" white lightning on mine. Works great
