rust prevention ideas on body
hello all. im looking into some tips on rust prevention while my truck has only been exposed to 1 winter up here in the northeast. i originally had the intention of cleaning the inside of the body panels as high as i could go and rear wheel wells off really good and laying down a couple coats of herculiner for some serious protection. but after reading the instructions from a friends kit he bought it sounds like a whole alot of work. your dealing with some nasty chemicals like acetone, mek or xylol, as well as the harsh nature of the herculiner itself and im not so sure anymore if thats the way i want to approach this little project.
so i was wondering if anyone else has done this already by some other means. perhaps a matte black rustoleum paint sprayed on. something that will withstand the harsh weather changes like an engine enamel maybe. any suggestions are welcome. just looking to protect my investment as much as possible to stop the rust from eating away my baby. thanks everyone.

My truck has the Ziebart undercoating and bedliner, both seem to be holding up great on my 5 year old truck. Here are a couple options; undercoating (either DIY or Pro) and some guys repaint there frames and driveline every year.
On the exterior, just keep it very clean. Washed, clayed and waxed often. Wipe out places the collect dirt and moisture like your jambs and around body panels. And touch up and paint chips.

I wax oiled mine the day I brought it home. Trust me, it works like no other product out there. Your local body shop supply store will carry it under one brand name or another. It never truly dries, it's waterproof, and just plain works. It's runny as hell though, so although I apply it generously, you have to leave the doors open all night to let it run out the drain holes. Give it a wipe in the morning, and again every night for a few days, and in the long run you will be very happy with the results. I did my doors, fenders, and inside the box, from the bottom side of course. The only thing I didn't do was my cab corners. Too lazy to take everything all apart to get there, but it would be a very good idea.
Wax Oil. http://3mcollision.com/products/coat...r-i-08892.html Just one of the many brand names out there. You don't need to pay for the 3m name, Dominion sure seal also has one, http://www.dominionsureseal.com/prod...id=53&catid=28 as do many others.....
