Cordless impact gun test 24v goodyear($79) vs 18v snap-on ($400)

Had a little time on my hands and my buddy Al (ChiefAl40) came over to do a few things on the lift ( Oil and Fuel filter changes along with other misc. stuuf).
Al helped (along w/ Mike00L) putting the lift together so I am glad I can help them with projects that a lift makes easier.

Anyway...

I figured since Als L was just sitting there on the lift with the tires at eye height I would do a little Impact gun test.
I have been using the Snap-on for many years and I LOVE it. My father was given the 24v goodyear impact as a gift and has no use for it so he gave it to me(thanks dad)

Both guns were fully charged ..

I got out my trusty craftsman torque wrench and torqued the 3 lugnuts to 120 ,130 ,140 ft. lbs and off I went.

Results..
The Goodyear had no problem w/ 120, a little tough on 130 and could not do 140 ..even though the box said 170.

Snap-on ..No problem with 120,130,140,150 (150 was the highest torque setting of my torque wrench)

BTW- The goodyear could not do 150 either.

BTW- I did the test twice to make sure.

Result.. No big shocker...The more expensive gun won.

BUT I have used the goodyear gun many times and its a great gun to take off lugnuts that aren't put on with a sledgehammer. For $79 I do recommend it.

VINNIE

I think what V is trying to say is that he used my truck as a GINNIE PIG.
He also me helped with a few other things.(spray paint, tools etc.)
I think he liked working on a slow truck.

THANKS V

Thanks Vin! I have seen this thing and keep thinking it's WAY too cheap to buy. If it will at least get my lugs on/off at the track I'll go for it.

the dewalt is $300
If you work for Dewalt then your opinion about dewalt is less valuable ... You may know more than the average Joe about the tools BUT your opinion about dewalt is less valuable when doing a comparison - In my opinion

If I worked for JDM and said that all JDM parts were the best and I know more about JDM stuff than EVERYONE here, would that make my opinion that JDM was the best, more or less valuable than a independent 3rd party opinion ?

LMAO!!! New flames..... Bwaaahahahaha!!!!

Great test Vinnie. I've heard the Snap-on guns were pretty good. I've had a few pawned at our shops but nobody ever defaults on them. Guess thats why. The DeWalt looks like a pretty interesting unit and can be had for around $200 on eBay so a significant savings if they work.

What is the avg. number of lugs you can do (both off & on) with one fully charged battery with 150 ft/lb torqued lugs?
