Installed Pioneer AVIC D3.. pix inside

Well just installed my D3 today and snapped a few pix for you. This is a awesome HU, I did the bypass mod and installed the VSS ,reverse wire & camera. I placed the GPS antenna on my dash tray, I cut the rubber mat where the antenna sits so the GPS sits flat in the tray.
I added a custom F150 screen, but will be working on one with my truck on it

I ordered it from Crutchfield and installed it myself, I would never let any of these local clowns install my gear

Looks awsome! Did you have the audiophile? Did you stay with the factory speakers? A big difference in sound?

Nice clean install that could pass as OEM.

I second this question. Did you have the subwoofer? If so does it sound better (the entire system).

I've got the AVIC d2 (prior model to D3 with larger screen and dual slots) and the factory audiophile system. It's not a small difference in sound but rather a HUGE difference. When I show someone my stereo and "turn it up" the first question they ask after it turn it back down is what kind of speakers do I have. I usually have to argue with them just a little because they swear up and down it can't be factory speakers. I totally love the sound and the factory sub really comes to life once you learn the fine adjustments using the high pass filter and custom tune the equilizer. It has a very nice thump to it and the difference is not just limited to thumping bass, but the mids and especially the highs are very crisp.

looks great man! Not a bad price for a navigation unit either... does it have an ipod control? Also can it be bypassed to show video when in gear? What are some of your favorite features?

Just so you know, despite what the install instructions say the GPS antennae can be mounted below the tray out of site and it will work perfectly. I have an Avic D2 and will be moving my antennae to below the tray as well. Just a thought.

Looks good, but you should really use the BEST dash kit for our trucks. Seriously, the comapnies name is BESTKITS.com.

I saw another thread where someone installed the same head unit as yours and it looks 100% better than the Scorsche or Metra dash kits.

The link and the rest of the info is in my gallery, as well as a pic of the dash kit. My Avic-Z2 wont be installed till tuesday, but i allready attached the dash kit to it so i will snap some pics later today and post them for you as well.

Oh and how can we install the GPS antenna under the dash, and have it so it still works!
