Spark Plugs

Does anyone know if the 2009 will have the same spark plug non-issue as the 2004-2008 F150? I have to be careful to call it a non-issue, as some guys on here really take offense when I call it an issue.

As far as I know, they have already "fixed" the problem in the mid 2008 motors with a different spark plug.

There was a thread about it here but I'm too lazy to find it. I'm sure someone can confirm this here though.

Yes, I read this as well. I believe every 08 built after October of 07 has the fix

I was told by the dealer they started applying anti-seize at the factory on the '07s which would effectively solve the problem as well.

Sweet! So it's a non-issue.

There's never been a plug issue on F150s. Or in other words, if it doesn't happen to me it's not an issue.

I just called the dealer and the parts people said the plugs are all the same. the difference is in the heads after 09Oct07. So, apparently the plugs are the same. As for 09 who knows.

If that is what your dealer told u he does not know squat the plug is a completely different plug it is not a long reach plug and it is also re-gappable just like any normal plug but as usual dealers are usually the last to know

All I know is I called the parts department and he says there is one plug since 04. Since Oct07 there is a different part number for heads.

That was my understanding as well. I understood that they had opened up the area below the threads so the plugs would have more room to come out.

I didn't have any speculation as to whatthe difference was. Only there were different part numbers. The plugs are 17-something a piece. I think I'll just clean mine and antisieze them.

I can assure all here that I have talked to the ford employee that is putting the new plugs in the new heads and he has told me they are a completely new plug designed like the plugs of old which are re-gappable and the only part in the combustion chamber is the firing electrode and it even takes a different size socket to put them in.
