Cool

Looks good !!

Noticed you put your antenna on the roof. If you would rather have a "stealth" installation, you can put it under the plastic cowling where your windshield wipers are.

On the passenger side there is a depression in the metal that is large enough for the antenna to sit.

If you are interested, I'll post pics...

Please post pic I installed it last weekend (toguether with many other things) and I cannot get out of my truck! Currently I have my flat-crab antenna on the dash. Is the same color so you barely notice it. But I would put it somewhere else.

First of all XM ROCKS!! I've had it for 4 months now, and it is the best, I'll never listen to FM again.

Second, lemme say that, messman, you did one hell of a job on that install. I thought about getting the rf modulator setup, but couldnt find a good place to mount it, but you found the place I opted to go for a new headunit and am still happy as a pig in *****. Good Luck and ENJOY your XM!

Sorry for the delay, but I've been a bit busy lately...

You don't have to remove the windshield wiper if you don't want to. You can just remove the screws and clips and pry the cowling up.

There will be enough room to slip the antenna under the cowling and into the metal "depression" and then you can just put the screws and clips back in again.

Should take you about 15 minutes...

Here's a pic of the parts to remove:

Here's a pic of the antenna under the cowling:

Good luck and let me know if you need any additional info.

What antenna do you have installed there. I am pretty sure it's not the "Shark Fin", but not sure of the other options which one you used. Thanks.

Cool

dlf -

It's a Terk low-profile antenna. It has the magnet in the base, so it stays where you put it...

Got it at Best Buy for $45 or so...

Thanks for the reply. I guess you have no problems with the reception? I am interested in getting XM or Sirius, haven't really decided, leaning toward XM, and I would like to have the antenna out of sight..... thanks again.

You are welcome. BTW, the satellites are almost directly above you guys in Texas, so your antenna should almost always be in the "line of sight" mode if you mount it where I did.

I don't have any problems in Florida, but I don't know about folks farther North...

Zero problems with XM reception here in Kentucky. KingRanchSC02 is in southern Florida and has never mentioned having a problem with reception either. You're going to love it.

I should have clarified my reception question. I was ACTUALLY referencing the location of the antenna, and was wondering if the fact it was located under the wiper cowl provided any reception problems. I am assuming it won't. Just counting pennies until October or so, and then will probably check into getting XM.

Thanks Y'all,

DLF
