Engine Block Heater

In case anyone is wondering... here is the part number and some pictures of the engine block heater for a 4.2l V6.

Ford Part #: F65Z-6D008-AA

It goes in any of the 1.5" freeze plug holes. Simple install, takes like 30 minutes if you know what you are doing.

It also comes with the bolt, and wiring adapter to plug it into 120v household A/C.

Bought mine a month ago. I have yet to install it because i am in the process of gathering material for a custom fan shroud for my efan, which will require taking the radiator out. And I want to drain the antifreeze only once, that Ford Gold antifreeze ain't cheap! Also, my stealership wanted 80$ CND for the wire!! found one at a parts store for 15$

I plan on installing mine this summer... I can't wait to do it... but I just filled it up with fresh coolant. Might as well flush it this summer again.

I run my b/h on a timer. Juice comes on about 4 a.m. and the engine is warm enough for an easy start and heat from the heater.....

Thanks for posting this - living in Wisconsin I've been contemplating installing one of these. I've done some mechanical work but don't have any experiecne with freeze plugs. Would you be kind enough to elaborate on how they are removed/reinstalled? Any special tools required? Thanks in advance for any information. Regards.

...so you loosen the bolt on the freeze plug and that allows that wing nut shaped part to fold in as the plug is pryed out? What did you use to pry it out with? Is there a particualr freeze plug that is preferred over the others? Sorry for all the questions - I just want to get it right. Thanks for posting the pictures - they're great!

BTW, I have an 2002 with about 75K miles on it. Aside from the clutch slave cylinder I haven't had a lick of trouble!
