Question Hose Name??

Hey guys, I have a hose that I can't seem to find the part number for.
I checked our local FORD dealership and they don't seem to have it... or seem to have anything at all at times. I live on the island so, you can't say I can't believe they don't sell it there.
Anyways its cracking and I think it needs to be replaced...
Thanks!
Oh and here's the picture. Sorry didn't have time to use paint and show which, but its the big one in front of you The one coming from the solenoid I think that's what it's called?

Then here it is going to the top... of the ??

line name???

Not sure what it's called, but it is just a piece of fuel vent hose you can pick up at a parts store for a couple of bucks.
It comes from the vapor management valve (VMV) to your upper intake. The vmv opens and allows fuel vapors captured by the vaccum canister to be sucked into the engine and burned by combustion.
I have had to change this line out too. It became crusty, flaky and sooty from the fumes deteriorating it. This is a great place for a vaccum leak, which could cause major problems.

Yeahh... I think both of you explained it pretty much the same place...
Is there a particular name or something I can call it by.
So when I go there I don't look like a complete dumbass lol...

Thats actually your Evap Canister Purge Valve. Tell them you need the hose that goes from that to the right valve cover. You can replace that hose with a rubber hose. It should work just fine.

Agree with IronS1N:
I have an older unit (98Ex) of which I have a part number.
I am reluctant to give you that number since there may be differences due to that difference. That hose can be replaced with generic 5/8" Emission Grade Rubber Hose. Due to where it is and its function that hose tends to deteriorate due to oxidation. You will also find that it is covered in **** like rubber dust with a consistency similar to Printers Carbon. Best repair consists of 18" of Emission Grade Rubber hose. You can cut off the ends at the valve using a razor blade. Gently score the hose lengthwise at each end to remove the bad hose connection. You may need to apply a slight amount of lubricant to each end to slip the new rubber connection onto each end.
Good Luck

Thanks guys. I actually happened to stop by Car Quest yesterday and found they sold rubber pipes. All I need to do now is find the right size.
I'm not sure if mine is 5/8" though, but sounds like a good place to start.
Sounds easy to install, way easier than installing my h.i.d. kit lol
Thanks!

Careful - That's an emission line, - like 98Expedition10 mentioned, so you need "fuel vapor" hose. - (It SHOULD read "Fuel Vapor" in White or Yellow on the hose ) Any, or all rubber hose won't work.

Yea , it's not the booster assist (that's on the bottom).

If you purchased just rubber line (what it sounds like) - Go for a ride , pull over, -pop the hood while it's running and warm. I've seen that line completely suck itself shut/collapse, when using other than "fuel vapor".

I'm serious lol , -really...Honest! Fuel Vapor lines have a certain permeation strength. Their used in EVAP systems so you don't blow up lol. Seriously, -you could end up filling the engine compartment with fuel vapor which WILL explode with any ignition source.

Fuel Vapor can cave what you think is a strong sturdy hose if it's not one that can handle it. I HAVE SEEN that happen.

I have checked carquest and thought I found one, but I'm not sure if its "fuel vapor line"...
It said on the pipe do not use for fuel something.....
So I guess its not for fuel vapors?
Think you can locate me one on ebay or something...
I seriously don't have any more idea where to find this rubber hose.
Is there a part number to this darn thing?

BTW I doubt its 5/8 probably a 3/8 though...
Anyone know the right size?

Dealership item IMO. I know you can purchase Emission hose, but I would get THAT one at the dealership because it's pre-radiused. - If you notice,-it 90's up and out like an "S" in two spots. There's a reason for that, but I can't recall, -something about an "Air Gap" (can't confirm that). To me, it looks to bent in order to steer clear of other components.

Idunno, mines been oxidizing for 8 years and turning my hands black when touched. That isn't a sign of ware IMO,- not to the point of replacement anyway. - I have over 1/4 million miles on that hose and it doesn't leak. I've sliced about 1/4-1/2" off both ends, stuck the ends in a small glass of Lacquer thinner, then reconnected for shrink fit that's air tight , but that's about it. I've tested many times, NO leaks.

But yea, fuel vapor breaks down your average type hose.

BTW- That hose connects to TB Elbow top port. Ford calls that the Plenum. Crap, -hang on , have some pics somewhere. Part name =

Nope. That's Ford Service. A DVD you can purchase on eBay, along with many others- model and year specific.. That one was $9. BUT! Yes, Alldata has Ford Service Info as well (that's a better answer for you) and all up tp date TSB's.
