1947 Ford F1 Dares to Be Different
In a world of cookie cutter classics, this old-school Ford F1 stands apart from the crowd.
Take a glace at any local car show or online publication and you’re bound to notice a trend. Old school, fat fendered Fords typically follow a particular pattern. Shave the body, paint the chrome, drop it on the ground, and cover it in some sort of attention grabbing hue. And these cookie cutter classics are almost always 2nd gen F-Series pickups. Rarely do you see enthusiasts choose 1st gen trucks like this 1947 Ford F1.
We spotted the interesting ride over at The Collector Car Network, where it certainly stands apart from the sea of 1953-1956 F-100s. And it proves a bit of a point. While we obviously covet the gorgeous lines of the later trucks, these early F-Series pickups deserve more love. Just look at the unique design of this particular Ford F1 and you can see the potential.
Perhaps the most unique part of this build lies up front. The classic front end has received a rather modern treatment, yet retains its original character. Some of the original brightwork was retained, yet modern LED lighting and a blacked out grille and bumpers gives it a sinister look. And yet, the builder resisted the urge to change much of the remaining truck’s original lines. Mainly because they look just fine as is.
With a perfect stance and beautiful body, there aren’t many bones to pick with this vintage Ford F1. We’d ditch the 90s era rolling stock for some steelies or something a little more modern, for one. And of course, rip out that Chevy 350 and replace it with a proper Ford mill. But other than that, this F-Series originator is pretty much perfect. And most certainly a welcome change from the status quo.
