1978 Ford F-150 Is the Stuff of ’70s Dreams
Period correct custom 1978 Ford F-150 is worth preserving. But we can’t say the same thing about your bell bottom pants!
While the late ’70s are largely forgettable in regards to things like fashion and music, it was perhaps the golden era for Ford trucks. You won’t find many models more beloved among enthusiasts, that’s for sure. These boxy, tough behemoths have quickly become collector’s items as a result. It wasn’t that long ago when a big time collector car auction would never feature a ride like this 1978 Ford F-150. But times, they are a changing.
And that’s exactly where we came across this beauty of Ford – perusing recent Mecum auctions listings. The cream colored classic immediately caught our eye with a period correct look straight from the late ’70s. Aside from the groovy paint work, the old school visor, chrome brush guard, and diamond plate side steps convey that era perfectly. And it all works together quite harmoniously.
Aside from that, a suspension lift and Mickey Thompson wheels with Dunlop tires give the short wheelbase truck a nice, aggressive stance. Power comes from a tried-and-true 400 V8, which should have no problem turning all four wheels. Inside, you’ll find nothing more than super sanitary threads done up in both cream and brown. It’s tidy, mostly original, and amazingly preserved.
Overall, this 1978 Ford F-150 looks like it rolled straight out of a time machine. It’s a true testament and survivor of ’70s fashion, and we’re glad nobody updated it along the way. After all, whether you love it or hate it, this is a custom from a bygone era worth saving. Preserving it for future generations is an important endeavor. Unfortunately, we can’t say that same thing about your bell bottom pants and Bee Gees records. Maybe we’re better off letting some things fade into obscurity!
