Four Wheeler and BDS Give Ford F-150 Impressive Ground Clearance without Sacrificing Factory Systems or Ride Quality

Lifted trucks are incredibly popular these days, for a variety of reasons. They look great, enable truck owners to install bigger wheels and tires, and they increase ground clearance for off-road purposes. But not all suspension lift kits are created equal. Some compromise ride quality and factory suspension geometry, and many feature questionable build quality.

Here to squash all of those compromises is an innovative solution by BDS Suspension. Their lift kit designs specifically maximize ground clearance while maintaining factory systems and ride quality, all using high-quality components, claims the company. Four Wheeler recently teamed up with BDS to install their four-inch lift kit on a 2015 Ford F-150, and the results are pretty awesome.

The beauty of this new four-inch kit is that it can easily be increased to six inches after the initial install. Simply replace the strut spacers or struts in the front, and swap out the rear blocks and U-bolts. But even if you choose to retain the four-inch lift, the results are impressive. On this particular install featured on the Ford F-150 in the photos featured here, the truck gained five inches of ground clearance with the installation of a set of LT285/65R20 (34.6-inch) Nitto Terra Grappler tires.

That kind of lift also pays dividends in the off-roading department. Approach angle on this F-150 increased from 30 to 37 degrees after the installation, with departure angle improving from 23 to 30 degrees.

The only catch with this particular BDS kit is that it takes a full eight hours to install. But the quality of the components used and retention of factory-driving dynamics seems worth it. As Four Wheeler notes, the truck barely needed any alignment work after the installation. That alone is a testament to the components used.
