2015 Ford F-150 Faces Three-Month Production Delay
Oh no! The launch date for the 2015 Ford F-150 has been delayed by up to three months.
Blame it on the aluminum.
Rumored to lighten the 13th-gen F-150 by 700 pounds, aluminum body panels may make the next F-150 lighter, but the material is causing a heavy burden for Ford’s product planners.
A report by The Truth About Cars says Ford’s aluminum suppliers are failing to meet requirements that allow Ford to properly form the lightweight metal. Suppliers are working to bring their materials up to spec so that Ford can launch the next F-150 before 2015.
If there are any further delays, it will seem as though the Ford Atlas Concept not only foreshadowed the look of the next F-150, but also its nickname: the Ford “At Last”.
