2017 Ford Raptor Road Show Review

Ford Raptor handled everything thrown at it with ease.

When Road Show reviewer Emme Hall saw her first bit of mud while driving the 2017 Ford Raptor, she looked like a kid in a candy store. The pure excitement of driving this powerful truck through some mud is enough to make anyone turn into a child, but it means a lot coming from someone who is supposed to give an objective review.

During the video review of the 2017 Raptor, Hall goes over the basics that make up the new generation of the Raptor. Gone is the 411 horsepower 6.2-liter V8, and in its place is a 450 horsepower 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6. The choice to go from a V8 to a V6 was controversial among Raptor enthusiasts, but in Hall’s review, she said the truck didn’t feel underpowered at all. In fact, it was just the opposite. Combined with losing 500 lbs. of total weight, thanks in part to the aluminum body, the Raptor felt great.

“With less weight and more power, I really don’t see what there is to complain about,” said Hall.

Her biggest complaint isn’t really a complaint at all, more of just a statement. With the width of the truck a full 6 inches bigger than a standard F-150, the Raptor just feels big. However, as she points out, the size of the truck makes you feel like the biggest, baddest vehicle on the road. Isn’t that half the fun, anyway?

Ultimately, Hall was a huge fan of the Raptor and had a huge amount of fun testing it out in the mud and on the trails. The version of the Raptor she tested was just over $69,000, but don’t let that cost scare you away.

As Hall ends her review, she says, “What’s happiness worth? If you love it, you should buy it. I have a feeling you won’t be disappointed.”
