Check out some of the less obvious changes we’ll find on the 2018 F-150.

Progress is a beautiful thing. And with each and every iteration of the iconic F-150, we’ve seen a lot of it. The forthcoming 2018 Ford F-150 refresh brings with it a number of changes, all of which promise to make it the best Ford truck yet. And the folks at Lasco Ford recently got their hands on one. So, they decided to do a very interesting overview of the obvious and not so obvious differences.

Unlike a lot of other comparisons we’ve seen lately, this one actually compares the new F-150 with several models. Including the 2017 F-150, Raptor, and Super Duty. Design wise, more pronounced C-shaped headlights replace the outgoing units, even in XLT halogen trim. They wrap around a new grille design, a shape mimicked by the newly contoured bumper and grille surround.

A total of six new wheels designs are available with the 2018 F-150, including the standard 18″ wheels on this Sport. The Sport also features painted fender flares, door handles, and running boards. New for 2018 is a box mounted side step and optional LED spotlights on the side mirrors. A “sport” decal also adorns the bed sides.

Opting for the blind spot detection system nets you an upgraded LED taillight. And unlike previous models, Ecoboost badging no longer adorns the fenders, though it’s still present on the restyled tailgate. Perhaps most interestingly, Lasco Ford points out the 2018’s more pronounced antenna. This is because a wi-fi hotspot is now available for around $20 a month, which is a fantastic feature.

Inside, you’ll find a largest in class twin panel moonroof and touchscreen. The seat design is also new, with a tread pattern running through the middle. Rear inflatable seatbelts are new, as is a pedestrian detection alert system. All of which are compelling reasons to upgrade to a 2018 F-150. And proof that Ford remains way ahead of the competition, as it has for decades.
