All-electric F-150 is in the Works Says Ford!

Blue Oval confirmed news about the F-150 EV during call with investors but stopped short of revealing a release date.

It’s official: An all-electric Ford F-150 is in the works!

“Here’s what’s going to happen next to future-proof that global juggernaut of commercial vehicles — we’re going to be electrifying the F-Series, both battery-electric and hybrid,” announced Ford’s president of global markets, Jim Farley, during a Jan. 16 conference call with investment analysts. “And we’re doing the same for Transit,” he added.

A release date for the fully-electric F-150 has not been announced. But the Blue Oval plans to launch the hybrid F-150 in 2020. That same year Ford has plans to also deliver to consumers a “Mustang-inspired” electric SUV. So, we’re hoping to see the F-Series EV not long after.

Presenting at the Deutsche Bank Global Auto Industry Conference in Detroit on Wednesday, Ford also highlighted areas of strategic momentum throughout the company.

“We are now beginning to see the results of our capital shift away from traditional sedans to trucks and SUVs with new utility nameplates globally, including Territory in China, Bronco, and a slightly smaller, yet-to-be named off-roader in North America,” Farley said. “The year 2018 was a growth year for F-Series, especially Super Duty in North America. Transit and Ranger are now in all global markets in high volume with great potential.”

Farley also outlined actions the Blue Oval is taking to reshape its regional businesses, including in North America, where in the next 24 months, Ford is refreshing 75% of its lineup, fortifying the company’s successful truck franchise and renewing and expanding its range of SUVs.
