Badass Ford Raptor Explores the Desert Fearlessly

Ford Raptor

Most Raptor owners will never even take their trucks off road. But this one gets used like Ford intended!

We’d wager that most folks who buy a Ford Raptor will never really explore their limits. Most, in fact, will never even see an off-road trail. And that’s a shame, because these trucks are built to take an incredible amount of abuse and keep on truckin’. But we can safely say that there’s at least one Raptor in the world that’s being driven like a Raptor should be. And it’s owned by Yucca Mesa, California resident Liana Prieto.

Somewhere along #olddaleroad in #joshuatreenationalpark. First time trying this trail since I installed #leitnerdesigns rack and #jamesbaroud tent so riding lower now and the back was almost scraping the dirt. Should I raise her up? 📸1: @wraithraptor 📸2: @heliomuro . . #raptor #offroadraptor #fordraptor #ford #fordtrucks #fordgirl #truckgirl #offroadgirls #rebellerally #team166 #likeagirl #ladydriven #girlswithtrucks #joshuatree #29palms #truckporn #f150 #4×4 #offroadnation #overland #ladydriven #desertadventures #desertlife #nationalpark #tuckedtuesday #galpinautosports #wraithoffroad

Want proof? Just take a gander at Prieto’s Instagram. It’s there that you’ll find hundreds of pics and videos of her blazing across the deserts of the West Coast, often with a gang of other Raptors. Her purple truck is equipped with a bed-mounted rack and pop-up tent, which probably comes in handy when you inevitably get lost in the sand.

Last post about this weekend’s mishap… makes me grateful I didn’t grow up in the internet age because there would be videos a lot more embarrassing than this one floating around for sure #snaggletooth @david_getsdirty @heliomuro @brian_heinlein . . . . #offroadraptor #offroad #overland #fordraptor #raptor #shithappens #keepgoing #keepsmiling #team166 #truckgirl #fordgirl #offroadgirls #builtfordtough #makeyourowntrail #desertshenanigans #desertadventures #upgradetime #gopro #motherknowsbest #donttrythisathome #mamasaid #sendit #whoops #noonewashurt #crash

Lest you think that Preito takes it easy on her all-world off-roader, think again. In fact, she recently had an unfortunate run-in with a rock that left her with a broken bumper and wheel pointing in the right direction. Not to mention a bent frame and control arms knocked out of place. But while an incident like this would make most Raptor owners shed some tears, Preito is taking it in stride.

Don’t jump when there isn’t a trail on the other side. But maybe I did it on purpose just to have an excuse to get a new bumper. Still made it through the run. Now heading to go find some mines. Thank goodness for @david_getsdirty @heliomuro @brian_heinlein who helped get me out and back on the trail ⛰🚙💨 #offroadraptor #raptor #fordraptor #fordgirl #truckgirl #oops #bumperfail #offroad #offroading #overland #whoops #rebellerally #team166 #fryeboots #offroadgirls #fordperformance #bajadesigns #fordtrucks #ford #donttrythisathome #snaggletooth

Like a true optimist, she’s using this little incident as an excuse to make some upgrades. And in the meantime, she’s getting the whole thing put back together (sans part of the bumper) so she can get back out on the trails. Now that’s what we call hardcore!

Such is life in the desert, of course, where even the toughest truck will eventually succumb to mother nature’s obstacle course. But we’ll bet on the resilient Preito any day!
