Bronco Magnum Is an Awesome Aftermarket Success
It’s rare to spot a Bronco Magnum Metropolitan in good condition, or any kind of condition. Thanks to great aftermarket options, that’s changing.
It’s no secret that Ford never produced a four-door Bronco. Heck, they didn’t even build a large, four-door SUV until the Excursion and Expedition came along. No, if you wanted a Ford ‘ute big enough to haul your family and your friend’s family back in the day, you needed to look to the aftermarket. That’s where you’d find both the Bronco Magnum and Bronco Centurion.
Those pair of aftermarket companies built a very similar product, albeit in different quantities. Of the estimated 5,000 four-door Broncos built by both, only around 500 came from Michigan-based Magnum. But if you wanted a factory built extended Ford utility, this was the one to get. Magnum used genuine Ford parts on these builds, making them look like they rolled right off a Dearborn assembly line.
As you might imagine then, there aren’t a ton of four-door Bronco conversions still around today. And those that are typically aren’t in the greatest shape. So, when we spotted this super clean 1990 Bronco Magnum Metropolitan for sale out in Torrance, California, we were stunned. The odometer shows roughly 128,000 miles, but it looks barely used at all.
On top of that, this one features Eddie Bauer trim. Which, for those unfamiliar, signified a fancy interior treatment back in the day. The comfy confines look barely sat in, and the seller claims that everything works. Most everything else, including the 5.8 liter V8, remains stock. But someone did install a 4-inch lift and ’90s-tastic American Racing wheels somewhere along the way.
Still, if you’re looking for a Bronco Magnum, this is probably the nicest one we’ve ever come across. There isn’t even any visible rust, thanks to the truck’s California heritage. But don’t think that you’re getting a bargain. The seller obviously knows what he has, listing this bad boy for $25,000.
