Ford F-100 Across Canada Premieres Aug. 13 on FTE
Join ‘Truck,’ a 1968 Ford F-100, and its friends as they travel across Canada to celebrate the history of this Blue Oval icon in new blog series.
When you’ve got a new truck in your life, what’s the first thing you do? For some, they take it home and invite friends and family over to check out the new ride. For others, it’s straight to the job site for long days welding pipeline together to keep its (and everyone else’s) fuel source going. A few may even turn their truck into a hot rod or a muddin’ machine.
For David Morton and Don Giroux, they take their truck on an epic journey to its place of birth. Known as David + Don on the Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forum, the duo recently took their newly acquired 1968 Ford F-100 from Vancouver, British Columbia to Oakville, Ontario for a trip of a lifetime. And thanks to our friends at Ford Truck Enthusiasts, you can follow their journey through the new blog series Ford F-100 Across Canada starting Monday, August 13.
Morton bought the former farm truck in Osoyoos, British Columbia back in May, which has a straight-six and four-speed manual, plus a rebuilt carb, “four new tires, engine seals and some general tightening and electrical.” Dubbed “Truck,” Morton found the F-100 in the local classifieds one day, and though he wasn’t a truck guy in the slightest, he “was listening to a lot of country music at the time, found it was a thousand bucks,” and bought it from the previous owner.
After some research into “Truck’s” VIN, Morton learned the F-100 was built in the Oakville, Ontario Ford plant 50 years ago, then shipped west. Thus, with Giroux on board, Morton decided to bring the truck home. He also wanted to meet with people from both the FTE and F150online forums to talk about trucks, as he’s new to the truck scene.
If you’re ready to follow David + Don’s journey to a homecoming of a lifetime in their Canadian F-100, then head over Ford Truck Enthusiasts starting Monday, August 13th. A new installment will appear every Monday through September, so don’t miss it!
