Ford F-150 with Big Cube V8 Undergoes Extreme Makeover
After sitting in a barn for eight years, this amazing old school Ford F-150 build is getting a new lease on life.
We like to act like we don’t know how it happens. But sometimes, our beloved F-150 just gets pushed to the wayside. Perhaps a major life event gets in the way, or our priorities change for a bit. And then, hours of neglect turn into days, weeks, months, and years. And before you know it, your old Ford is covered in inches of dust with a dead battery and flat-spotted tires.
This exact scenario befell a beautiful 1979 Ford F-150 owned by automotive performance parts seller Extreme Truck recently. But now, they’ve made up for it in a big way. After sitting in storage for a whopping eight years, the company drug their old school cool F-150 out of a barn and got to work cleaning it up. And they documented the entire process on their Instagram page for us to mull over.
But don’t get the wrong idea – this classic F-150 was already awesome as is. With a towering six-inch lift and beefy tires, it just needed a little bit of love and attention. The black paint was preserved perfectly underneath layers of dust, the tires just needed some air. Oh, and the team had to clean up some possible raccoon tracks too, apparently.
Looking tough with all that aforementioned stuff, this F-150 also packs quite the punch under its large hood as well. There you’ll find a stroked-out 502 cubic-inch V8 in all its glory. Unfortunately, the raccoon family that made this classic truck their home also appear to have caused some issues there, too. So Extreme Truck had to spend some time de-nesting the engine bay to get the F-150 running again.
So far, the pickup has been cleaned up and is looking as good as new. Extreme Truck recently drained all the old fuel out of it and replaced it with some fresh gas as well. Hopefully, that’ll be all this truck needs to get up and running again. But we’re pretty sure at this point that they’ll do whatever it takes to get this F-150 back on the road.
