Ford F-Series Keeps Flying off the Lots, Silverado – Not So Much

2014 Ford F-150 XLT

For you Chevy Silverado haters out there, you can bask in the knowledge that your GM nemesis is selling a bit slowly despite being an all-new design.

For the month of September, Ford F-Series sales totaled 60,456, which is up 9.8 percent for the same period in 2012.

Chevrolet sold about half of that with 32,506 Silverado sales last month. That’s down 10.8 percent from last year.

Not so fast, “FORDfan4LIFE566”, the Silverado’s fate isn’t that dismal. Most people who buy Silverados, a.k.a. your sworn enemies, get them with the 5.3L V8, but there’s a shortage of that engine right now, which means sales are slowing a bit until the engine shortage ceases. Also, factor in last month’s 13,438 GMC Sierra sales, and you have a GM-truck grand sales total of 45,944, which is still significantly better than the 28,145 pickupsĀ Ram TrucksĀ sold. Here’s something to laugh about: only 962 Nissan Titans were sold last month … 203 fewer units delivered than the Honda Ridgeline impostor pickup “truck”.
