Ford Raptor Kicks Butt at Mint 400 Desert Race
To help get the new Ford Raptor ready for launch, the Ford Performance team is taking the truck racing in the factory stock class as part of the Best in the Desert racing series. Last weekend was the Mint 400 leg of that series, and the Raptor finished and performed well.
Very little has changed from what will be the production version of the Raptor to this race truck. In fact, the factory satellite radio works and drivers Greg Foutz and Tim Casey enjoyed some hard rock while storming the desert.
The truck had some issues the first time out, so it’s great to see it finish strongly in the Mint 400. Foutz said, “We’re really pleased with the F-150 Raptor’s performance. The all-new F-150 Raptor race truck was strong throughout, and its new high-output EcoBoost engine and transmission are seriously impressive.”
Of course a completely, 100% stock vehicle cannot compete in a professional racing series but you have to have special seats and a roll cage, but beyond that some Rigid Industries lights and a bit more ride height are the only major modifications to the truck. Heck, they raced in air conditioned comfort!
Expect to see more Raptor racing action as the year progresses, and stay tuned for when we get our chance behind the wheel later this year!
