‘Black Ops’ F-250 Leads the Charge in Chicago
EXCLUSIVE: Luxury, Work and Custom Ford Trucks — Chicago Auto Show’s Got Them All
Approximately 1,000 vehicles are currently on display at the Chicago Auto Show, where over 40 exhibitors attempt to reach their target consumers. The event staff has its work cut out for it in trying to live up to expectations year after year. However, having a massive manufacturer like Ford bring several dozen vehicles, racing simulators and army of staffers really helps.
Perhaps the biggest — and best — takeaway from this year’s show is the fact that it featured something for everyone. Rewind back to the Detroit Auto Show last month and only vehicles in upper trims were displayed. Whether it was the F-150, Super Duty or the Mustang, it was all about eye candy. Here, that same candy mingles with base-model trucks with cloth seats and single cabs. Truly a show for the consumer.
Of course, that doesn’t mean outrageously modified and expensive trucks weren’t present. Tuscany brought a blacked-out Super Duty dubbed the “Black Ops Edition F-250” with a $93,000 price tag. A $70,000 Ford F-150 Raptor sat in the middle of the massive display surrounded by other “lesser” F-150s that varied from Lariat to King Ranch. And lastly, a ridiculous blue and white 700 horsepower Shelby F-150 that forced passers-by to grab their smartphones and snap a photo.
We love what Ford brought to Chicago, and for the most part we really like the variety of trucks, which isn’t common at all. The show runs through February 20.
