700 Horsepower Hennessey Velociraptor is Pure Stupidity

stupidity

Let me get this straight. Hennessey is building a 704 horsepower street-legal pickup truck, and somehow people think that’s a good idea? Sorry to crash the party, but no it’s not, it’s complete stupidity.

In case you haven’t heard, the horsepower war is a real thing, and ever since the inception of the Dodge Hellcat, the 700 figure has gained some weird allure that everyone is chasing after; including famous American tuner, habitual lawsuit victim, and provider of shitty tuning academic services—Hennessey.

stupidity

Yes, you read that right, Hennessey has unveiled their latest 25th anniversary Velociraptor 700 F-150 based truck, and its 5.0-liter V8 with a 2.9-liter supercharger pumps out a completely idiotic 704 horsepower. My question is, why? Because ‘Murica?

Allow me to explain what’ll happen when the driver of the Velociraptor 700 steps on the throttle of the truck pictured in this article: It will incinerate the rear tires. Oh but it’s a 4×4 you may say… Ok, it will incinerate all four tires. Happy now?

stupidity

Think about it, that’s more horsepower than a base model Lamborghini Aventador, that’s more horsepower than most Ferraris, that’s 296 horsepower less than a 236 mph Bugatti Veyron. It’s madness, it’s stupidity.

I’ve driven a 707 horsepower Charger and Challenger Hellcat on various occasions, and they’re pretty intimidating at first, but then they become fun, and then you realize they’re stupidly powerful for their own good and you can’t enjoy them anywhere.

stupidity

Now think what that would feel like on a pickup truck, a vehicle that you can’t really take to the track and lap the crap out of it. You’re stuck on the interstate doing 75 mph with Lamborghini power under the hood.

Go home Hennessey, you’re drunk!
