The Strangers 2

Hit horror film is taking the terror on the road, and a classic F-100 returns for the ride.

The upcoming film The Strangers: Prey at Night  is adding a sinister and vehicular element to its premise. The much-awaited sequel to the 2008 horror classic hits theaters on March 9, 2018 and features a formidable star: A classic 1972 Ford F-100 truck.

Director Johannes Roberts has signed on to helm the sequel, taking over for original director Bryan Bertino, who wrote both flicks. Roberts says he took inspiration from auto obsessed fright flicks like Christine and Duel, and revealed that in this installment, the Ford pickup — memorable in an especially eerie scene in the 2008 film — will have a lot more screen time. In a recent interview with Crave Online he said, “We play with the truck a lot in this one, and that’s kind of fun. It has a slight Christine feel to it…The Strangers’ truck in the first one…plays quite an iconic role in this.”

The studio is mostly keeping mum on the details. We do know that the premise will again involve a road trip gone wrong — very, very wrong. A family ventures out on the open road and crosses paths with the eponymous strangers and their still-solid F-100. Masked psycho killers, heavy motor mayhem, and a (literally) badass Ford truck sounds like everything we want in a movie frightfest.
