Ford Fan Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Surprises His Dad with the Best Gift Ever: A Brand-New Explorer

Dwayne Johnson is famous for a lot of things. His career began as one of the most famous professional wrestlers of all time: The Rock. He’s now a certified A-List Hollywood superstar, acting and producing in a number of TV shows and movies. Behind the scenes, and even sometimes on screen, he is a huge fan of Ford trucks. He’s also a company spokesman. The multi-talented superstar famously has a fleet of his own Ford trucks, and in the 2004 blockbuster Walking Tall, he drove a 1987 Ford F-150. But Johnson clearly hasn’t forgotten where he came from. It’s why he recently went out and purchased a brand-new Ford Explorer for his father this past Christmas.

Johnson’s followers shouldn’t be at all surprised by the thoughtful gift. His meteoric rise to fame came not only from his talent, but the fact that he’s simply a good dude. And like any other good dude, he appreciates the man who raised him.

Johnson shared the news, along with a fun story about his dad, on a recent Instagram post.

“Bought my dad a Christmas gift and surprised him,” wrote Johnson. “He’s had a hard life. This one felt good. My dad, Rocky Johnson, is a minimalist. Always has been. Never asks me for much and over the years his needs are always the barest.”

Johnson also notes that he’s bought many trucks for his dad over the years, but he drives them into the ground. Even with a rich mega-star for a son, Rocky never asks for anything. So it’s only fitting that the man seems thrilled with the gift of a Ford SUV.

So there you have it, not only is Dwayne Johnson a likable character on the big — and small –screen, he’s a good guy in real life.
