Proving that You’re Probably High if You Prefer Chevy…

Chevy Truck

Aside from the obvious stupidity of getting busted with this much pot, you’ve got to be stoned to buy a Chevy truck when Ford is an option.

We’ve always wondered about Chevy truck buyers, you know? Why waste your time and hard-earned money on an inferior product, especially when you can buy the greatest truck in the world instead? We suppose you can blame it on personal taste, considering the fact that some people once thought bell-bottom pants were a fashionable choice. But maybe there’s more to it than that.

At least it seems that way after a Chevy Silverado pickup was seized recently trying to cross the U.S./Mexico border loaded with a cool million dollars worth of pot. Maybe the owner was just trying to test out his truck’s payload rating with the 1,800 pounds of weed in the bed. Instead, he got to participate in a wild police chase.

Tuscon.com reports that border agents were alerted to the truck’s presence east of Douglas, Arizona when officials spotted it on camera.

After attempts to stop the Chevy truck failed, a chase ensued. The driver attempted to take a detour back into Mexico but a stop-strip forced him to flee back across the border on foot instead.

Now, with a haul valued in excess of $1 million, you’d think these guys would at least go for a Raptor, which would make the risks somewhat more understandable.

The drug smuggler’s plan went up in smoke, literally, now that the customs officials have seized the load. Perhaps he would have had a little more luck getting away if he was driving an F-150. After all, Ford does have best-in-class payload and power ratings. Not to mention superior fuel economy.

Now, in case the choice of vehicle here seems like a random thing, consider this: About a week prior, two different alleged drug smugglers were arrested in Arizona by Border Patrol agents who found more than a ton of marijuana in the duo’s truck. And just what kind of truck were they driving? A 2003 Chevrolet pickup. Now, with a haul valued in excess of $1 million, you’d think these guys would at least go for a Raptor — something that is gonna make the risks somewhat more understandable.
