Based on the recent news that Ford Motor Company is still considering the future of both hybrid electric and diesel versions of their newest F-150 pickup, we want to know which you think is the better direction for the light truck alternative power program.
Ford has offered neither a hybrid nor a diesel F-150 in the past, but the competition has offered a little of both. The Ram brand recently rolled out the new EcoDiesel engine with strong early interest while both GM and Ram have unsuccessfully offered hybrid pickups in the past.
Ford has had a long and very successful diesel engine program in their Super Duty pickups and while they haven’t tried their hand at a hybrid electric F-150 in the past – the considerably greater level of hybrid success displayed by FoMoCo compared to the crosstown rivals suggests that the blue oval gang would be more likely to build a successful hybrid pickup.
Ultimately, with the 2015 Ford F-150 being so far behind the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel in fuel economy, it is all but certain that the Motor Company will come up with a new super-efficient half ton pickup – be it a hybrid or diesel.

"Before I was old enough to walk, my dad was taking me to various types of racing events, from local drag racing to the Daytona 500," says Patrick Rall, a lifetime automotive expert, diehard Dodge fan, and respected auto journalist for over 10 years. "He owned a repair shop and had a variety of performance cars when I was young, but by the time I was 16, he was ready to build me my first drag car – a 1983 Dodge Mirada that ran low 12s.
