Race Report: Ford Raptors Fly at Wild Horse Pass
If you don’t know where Wild Horse Pass is, it the new name of Firebird Raceway in Chandler, AZ. The now 2 day event made the opening rounds of the LOORRS tight and exciting thanks to qualifying and practice now being on Saturday rather than Friday.
Round 1 for Pro 2 looked like it would be a shoe in for Bryce Menzies in the Red Bull Ford, but a rear suspension failure would force him off track and out of the race. From there it was Rockstar/Ford Trucks drivers Rob MacCachren and Brian Deegan to battle for first.
Experience pays off as MacCachren would lead Deegan and Greg Adler in the Pro Comp/4 Wheel Parts Ford Truck round out third.
Sunday’s Round 2 would allow Bryce Menzies to really show what he was capable of as he took the race from flag to flag. Brian Deegan would finish in third with his Rockstart Ford.
In Pro 4 Round 1, Greg Adler would find the lead early, but Kyle Leduc would pull around him. He would dominate the rest of the race while Ricky Johnson in the Red Bull Ford would round out the podium for Ford.
Sundays’ Round Two would be a new story and Ricky Johnson would take the win after competitor after competitor would see failures.
