Famed tuner Roush Racing teams up with RPG Off-Road to build what might be the most capable Raptor to date.

Fresh off the showroom floor, it’s easy to say that the Ford Raptor is the most capable off-road vehicle you can buy today. Armed to the teeth with everything from specialized driving modes to a tricked-out four-wheel drive system, there isn’t much that can stand in the way of this mighty truck. But that doesn’t mean you can’t make it, well, better. And that was the goal of Roush Racing and RPG Off-Road with this awesome Raptor build.

Roush is no stranger to building fast Fords, mind you. They already offer some seriously fast F-Series pickups, both for the street and the dirt. But the goal with this “Overlander” concept is a little different. Roush wanted to take things a step further, integrating the very best suspension components available today. That includes a Fox 3.0 system with remote reservoirs and increased valve controls for high-speed off-roading.

Next, Roush called up the fine folks at RPG Off-Road for even more suspension goodies. They include beefier upper control arms, tie-rods, rear leaf springs, and a frame support kit. A full RPG Overlander conversion kit means new front and rear bumpers and a chase rack. Baja Designs supplied the lighting, and tires were upgraded to meaty BF Goodrich 37-inch KM2s.

All that kit contains everything you’ll need in the event that mother nature throws you a curveball on your Raptor excursion. From an off-road jack to Jerry cans and a tent, it’s all here. And of course, Roush wouldn’t just do all this work and leave the powertrain be. So they installed their Performance Pac Level 1 kit on the Ecoboost, bringing output up to 500 hp and 562 lb-ft of torque.

So the answer is yes, you can make a great thing even better. And in this case, it only took a little partnership between two of the best Raptor parts suppliers in the market to do it.
