SEMA 2012: Bigfoot on Batteries

This… Is probably the biggest electric truck there is. It’s so cartoonishly huge it’s more reminiscent of an RC car on a jumbo scale.

It’s real though an it is Bigfoot. Personally, I’m not sure what to make of this. On the one hand, I love electric motors. They’re really fun to drive and provide a boatload of torque but… Do they really belong in a monster truck?

Monster trucks are supposed to be about spectacle! They’re supposed to be loud, garish, almost comic machines that do absurd things like jump over airplanes and crush lesser vehicles beneath the treads of their gigantic tires. They’re escapism in it’s purest automotive form. I feel like taking away the rumble and roar of the most popular monster truck of all time would be like neutering it. And really, I don’t think anyone wants to neuter Bigfoot.

So, I’ll leave this one to you. Could you live in a world of electric monster trucks?
