Shelby F-150 Super Snake

New Shelby F-150 Super Snake is, quite simply, the ultimate street truck.

Despite the wild, runaway success of the Ford Raptor, many folks still feel left out in the cold. These folks are the fans of those once beloved street trucks that filled our local newstands with flashy magazine spreads. Trucks like the Ford Lightning, a snarling beast that sadly looks to have gone the way of the station wagon and the dinosaurs.

But if you still covet a slammed, stylish street truck with incredible two wheel drive performance, your day has come. It might not be in the form of a new Lightning, but the Shelby F-150 Super Snake looks like that truck’s rightful heir. Not to mention the rebirth of the last iteration of the F-150 Super Snake, which disappeared after 2009.

But the new Shelby truck packs a bit more of a punch than either of them. Instead of heading to market with a boring and highly predictable 500 or 600 horsepower, this one packs an incredible 750 ponies. Courtesy of a supercharged, 5.0 liter V8, just like it should be. And unlike the Lightning, you can get a Super Snake in two or four wheel drive.

Even if you’re cool with dropping six figures on a truck, only 150 of these beasts will be built. But for hardcore fans, it might just be worth every penny.

But make no mistake: This isn’t some sort of off road vehicle. It’s a proper street machine in the mold of the originals, with in-your-face styling no one will miss. The Super Snake has everything you’d want in a street truck: ground effects, a slammed suspension, and big wheels and tires. Not to mention that giant hood scoop and iconic dual stripes running the entire length of the truck.

Of course, all of this goodness comes at a price. The Shelby F-150 Super Snake starts out at $96,880 and only goes up from there. And even if you’re cool with dropping six figures on a truck, only 150 of these beasts will be built. But for those hardcore fans who never gave up on those stylish trucks made for the tarmac, it might just be worth every penny.
