The F-150 Lightning Goes Autocrossing

Trucks don’t autocross. It’s just one of those things that is better accomplished in a car with a low center of gravity and sticky tires. You know what though? Don’t tell that to the guys in the Ford Lightning. They’re doing pretty good for themselves here.

Admittedly, as far as F-150s go, the lightning is the one that has behaved most like a car in recent Ford history. They regularly outrun cars and most trucks at the drag strip, but that’s not such a big deal when you’ve got a 5.4 liter supercharged V8 under the hood. Big power doesn’t always translate to success on an auto cross course though. There, it’s all about handling and driving ability.

That’s why I applaud these videos. It’s not often you see trucks out there hitting apexes on an autocross track or otherwise. The fact that it’s a Lightning just makes it that much sweeter.
