One of the downfalls of being a rental vehicle is that people generally treat the vehicle pretty poorly, but the Ford F-150 rental in this week’s Tire Smokin’ video is facing abuse that is extreme – even for a rental.
This F-150 has been parked against a log out in the desert and the loose footing is hard enough that after sending off some of the top soil, the tires get to smoking surprisingly well.
After about 20 seconds of burnout, the driver of the F-150 backs away from the log as smoke billows from the bed and undercarriage. It isn’t the best burnout, but considering that it is a rental F-150 doing a burnout in the desert, it seemed unique enough to feature here on F150online.com.
Remember, when you get a rental truck with hoonage in mind – buy the insurance. As the details pointed out, this guy tore up one of the tires by doing a burnout in the loose footing.
"Before I was old enough to walk, my dad was taking me to various types of racing events, from local drag racing to the Daytona 500," says Patrick Rall, a lifetime automotive expert, diehard Dodge fan, and respected auto journalist for over 10 years. "He owned a repair shop and had a variety of performance cars when I was young, but by the time I was 16, he was ready to build me my first drag car – a 1983 Dodge Mirada that ran low 12s.
