Yeah you have to get the stronger hood struts. Still have to get them for mine. My hood is steel too, heavy as shi*t!

I got the ones made supposedly made for steel hoods and they still don't hold mine up. I have a PVC pipe I use as a hood prop

Me as well! Ive tried 3 dfferent brands of shocks for it and nada! all have failed!

I have a metal cowl induction hood on my 02 and the struts for them work like a stock aluminum hood. We had some confusion when my parts store ordered them. I guess I got a good counterman.

Do you have a part # or mfg? I reall want to stop having to prop my hood.

No I don't but if you want to call Jeff at Joe's Auto Parts at 248-543-1009. He's the one that looked them up and ordered them for my 02 F-150.

oh man didn't realize you were that close! LOL thats olny aboyt 45 mins from me. We just bought a house in shelby twp.

If you send Reflexxions a email asking them what struts work for their steel hoods I am betting they will supply you with a part number. They supplied the struts that came with my steel hood and work great.

I was reading something over on lightningrodder.com about a strongarm series strut that apparently seems to be a good one
