Hi-Lift Jack

With the recent addition of my 5.5" lift, I no longer have a floor jack that will go high enough to get it off the ground. Also my stock bottle jack is no where near high enough to get the tires up.

So I dug through my garage today and found my old Hi-Lift Custom. I looked online for a mount, but the hilift mount is kinda pricey for a two little brackets. So I decided to build my own.

I started with a piece of 1/8" think zinc plated metal from Home Depot. I brought it home and stuck in it the vice and started bending. I tried to copy the hi-lift version as close as i could. Once i was done bending I starting drilling holes for the mounting and jack hardware. I used come sheet metal screws to attach it to the back wall of the bed, and carriage bolts to hold the jack to it. On the carriage bolts i put a big washer and a wing nut to keep it from sliding off.

For extra security I added some chains and hooks to each side just incase it happens to break. The chains also make the jack a lot easier to get off the mounts with out it falling on you.

Anyways here are the pics of the finished product.

That looks like a simple yet effective design. Props to ya man!

Where do you have your lifting points at on the truck?

Hey you got yours mounted like mine. Looks really good. Grille guards mounted to the frame make great lift points.

Wow that is a neat idea. Looks like it could use some Rustoleum paint

I will be hanging mine in the same spot soon. Can anyone direct me to jacking points, front and back, on stock bumpers and what accessories used? My truck is a '99 XLT Super Cab. I was thinking of using the tow hooks on the front and shooting for the area where the back bumper bolts to the frame.

Thinking the same for the front, and wondering about the back too.

I use the Tow Hooks for the front jacking position and the trailer hitch for the rear. My jack is mounted under the rear seat.

I'd love to see pics of it mounted under the rear seat. I may consider doing that. I have the 4XRAC brackets http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000CMHNY2/ref=ya_aw_oh_pit.
