Auto Door Locks

I am tired of my truck locking me out Happened again tonight. I start my truck to warm it up, and it locks the doors approx 30 seconds after starting. Normally I will hit the unlock button just after it locks, or put the window down (but sometimes us older folks forget till the door is already shut) .... I got burnt once again tonight and she was sealed up tight. Very Frustrating to say the least.

So, can this feature be turned off, yet the power door locks still work (just not self-locking) ?

One of these two shoud take care of it for you.

Deactivating and Activating Autolock

To deactivate the "autolock":
With all doors and tailgate closed but NOT locked, and ignition OFF.
1. Enter 5 digit code
2. While holding 7/8 button in, press and release the 3/4 button.
3. Release 7/8 button
The horn will chirp once if the "autolock" was deactivated
or two times if "autolock" was activated.

To reactivate the system, repeat steps 1 thru 3

Alternate Method To Deactivate And Activate Autolock

Do steps [1] through [5] (below) within 30 seconds or you'll have to do it over. If you have to do it over, wait 30 seconds between attempts.
Close all doors securely.

1.Turn the ignition key to ON.

2.Press the power door UNLOCK control THREE times.

3.Turn the ignition key from ON to OFF.

4.Press the power door UNLOCK control THREE times.

5.Turn the ignition key back to ON .The doors should lock and unlock.

6.Press the power door UNLOCK control. The horn should chirp ONCE to confirm successful switching of the autolock system

Sweet. Method 2 I think is what I need since I don't have the door touch pads. I'm going to do this before heading off to work.

Thanks 1SCrewloose

That little owners manual in the glove-box has all your programmable options.

I didn't know they had that option. Mine don't lock unless it goes into Drive.. few seconds later it locks. Has never locked on its own while idling.

Right. - Right after "D", about a couple seconds or so. Stationary, - I've only seen them lock on their own because either the battery was low, you have bad connection or relay. Also a bad grounding behind the driver side kick panel (GreenBolts2).

So....Get to work lol.

It was the aftermarket alarm system in my 01 causing this. Had it removed and all is well again.
