New truck

I have had my 02 FX4 for 5 years now and it just rolled 89k. I have done my best to keep it perfect because I plan on keeping it forever lol.

The passenger side head has started leaking oil pretty bad so I decided it was time for a new daily driver so the FX4 could become a garage queen. I'm still undecided on what direction I will go on fixing it.

The new daily I picked up is a 99 supercab with the 4.6 v8 and M5OD trans. It's not the cleanest truck but it runs great. I know most people won't drive a manual nowadays but I love it and I wish they would put them in new trucks.

I can't wait for the current set of tires to wear out so I can put some 285's on it. It looks like it's lowered to me with the stock tires.

Not sure what other mods I will do to this truck yet, what do you guys think? I'm thinking about getting some of the NBS 4x4 decals for the bedsides since the previous owner removed them, also wan't to get the windows tinted.

Thanks bud. They are getting hard to find, this was the only 4x4 5spd v8 F150 I could find within 500 miles of me.

Thanks str8t six! Are you converting your truck to a ZF6 or am I thinking of someone else?

Thanks, will be cranking up the bars soon, just been too lazy.

I was actually thinking about getting a solid back window lol.

The 285's are going on it for sure when the current tires wear out. I'm helping them wear out as fast as I can lol. I would just put some on it now but the fiancee said no because her Accord needs new tires first.

Nice Find! I'd like to find a older truck like that so in the winter I can leave my 08' in the garage. I hate when I have to take it out on salty roads. . . . puts me in a bad mood.

Texas might be a little far from you for a trade lol. I also need to find the rubber surround gasket that goes between the plastic trim and cab. All of them I find in the junk yards are in worse condition than mine.

Yeah I paid 3k cash for this truck with 130k on it, couldn't pass it up. I spent a few winters in Montana and it sucked, luckily here in Texas we only get snow/ice one time a year if that.

Thanks. I've been looking at some of the trucks on here and 305's do look awesome. I'll probably wait a little longer to buy tires so I can get some 16x10's at the same time.

I got a M5OD question for you JMC. I've been researching some of your post and there is a lot of good info.

Everything works as it should but before the engine warms up there is a quiet high pitch noise at idle. I'm thinking its the throwout bearing because it goes away when you push in the clutch. Once the truck warms up the noise goes away. I can also sometimes hear a ringing noise under hard acceleration coming from under the truck, no idea what that could be. I can usually hear it when accelerating next to a wall but I have to be on the gas pretty hard to hear it.

If I end up having to remove the transmission I'll probably replace everything while it's out, the parts are cheap enough. I was looking at the MC slave and Luk for the rest of the parts, anything different I should use?

I got this truck from the origional owner with 130k, he claims no clutch/transmission parts have ever been changed.

Decided to crank up the bars this morning to level out the truck. I wen't all the way up because that's what I did on my 02 FX4 and it sits level. However on this truck it made the front end sit way higher than the rear, so I had to go back down.

Here is the 02 with the bars cranked all the way, I guess the reg cabs sit higher in the back stock.

Also snapped a pic of my ugly 97 F250 LD. She's at 250k but runs perfect and still pulls a trailer like a champ.

You can see where the 02 was bleeding out on the driveway. Now that its been sitting in my dad's shop for a little while its got a decent size puddle of oil under it. Still don't know what I'm going to do about it but it's gonna sit for a while .

One last random pic of my dog for fun.

I'm a red 10th gen hoarder lol.

I actually didn't plan on getting red on any of them. Both the 99 and 02 were the only trucks I could find with the options I wanted. The 97 my dad gave me free when he got a new truck.

I think it looks better without it.

Next thing on the list is painting that ugly grille black, just need to find time. I have not seen many trucks with a silver grille but they should have only come in black IMO.
