ABS Light

2003 F150 4x4 S/C 4.6L
Light came on after replacing the right front ball joint. In the middle of the job, had a brain fart and pressed brake pedal with caliper off and ASB connector out. Will a brake bleed solve? I don't feel soft brakes at all?

I have an OBDII Reader, which allows me to reset memory(?), but it came back on soon after, maybe I'll try again...

Correction, I remove the front wheel speed sensor bolt and the front wheel speed sensor when I was doing my balljoint job (instead of disconnecting harness), and then pressed brake when caliper was off and sensor was out. ABS light has been on since.

I reset light, but it came back on immediately.

I bled all brakes last weekend, still no change.

You will definitely need to make a shop visit and have them activate your ABS with their computer. OBD2 reader? I wish they were that invincible...

You got air into the system, hence the need to deal with the computer. Friend of my parents did a brake bleed and went overboard on her 98 Chevy. Same deal. Needed a shop visit to activate the ABS.

Go find a deserted dirt road and drive it fast enough to look the wheels and slam on the brakes. This should pulse the ABS and bleed the air out of the system. Repeat several times.

Ok, tried dirt road skid three times, light is still on. Was only doing 40 km/h. Maybe try a few more this weekend.
