Running 18s with 285 tires

I have a few posts asking about tire and rim combos as I need to replace some rims going bad.
I was told a few 17" combinations " May" work and keep a stock stance by keeping the wheels in the wheel well. They have now offered a really good deal on some bigger rims that they say wont need a lift and or stick out of the wheel well.
Email stated this:
You can do the MO959 in an 18". They will go on without sticking out past the fenders or requiring a lift kit.

Look for part# MO95989013218. These have 18 offset.
You would also want to run a 285/60R18 tire on there.

Seems like this would rub on the inside with this size tire on a 2wd...Anyone running something close and in a 2wd model with no lift?

I wanted to stay stock 16s but hardly any choices. Found a few 17s I like but the offsets were all negative so they wouldn't work. 18s offer more choices but worried about fit in a stock 2wd F150 and rubbing and etc....All these calculators still kind of confuse me with changing tire and rim sizes..

I'm not an expert on wheel and tire combos so I can't tell you for sure but I think you should be able to run that combo without rubbing or sticking out of the fenders.

Hopefully someone with more wheel/tire knowledge will chime in with the correct answer.

I would like to see some full size pics of your truck though if you don't mind posting some. Really interested in seeing how that ARE Z series cap looks.

The wheels would fit fine I'm sure, but you don't need to run a tire that big. They're about 31.5 inches tall and 11.2 inches wide, both of which are larger than stock. I'm not sure how big of a tire you can fit on your truck, but you can certainly get 18's with smaller tires

Thats just the tire size it seems all the replies I get back from wheel/calculator say to run with them..Seems kind of big to me also seeing all the 16 and 17 packages keep it at 255/70 or 255/65 tires. Jumping to a 285/60 had me wondering why so big and reason I'm asking for ideas here.

Wish there was just better choices in stock 16" rims....

Do you know what the width of the wheel is? I can't see any reason at all why you would have to run a tire that big. Unless the wheel was really wide, which it is very likely not, you can run 255's on it. I have 275/60/20 on my 20x8.5 wheel and I could have run 255 if I had wanted to.

Go to a Discount tire and ask one of their employees about it, they'll sort it out for you

The rim is 18x9 with 18 offset.. I was actually thinking of getting my tires from Discount tire anyways as we have them all over around here.

I just found it strange that 3 places all list the 285/60 tires for that rim and the F150 2wd...

Ok, most stock wheels on the 04+ are 7.5 inches wide (yours are likely similar), so it's possible that a wider tire would be recommended for the added 1.5 inches of width. However, even if you do need a 275 or 285, you can get an aspect ratio much smaller than 60. There are likely plenty of tire choices as long as you're getting road tires (not all terrains). Discount will be able to get you squared away with what you want/need
