Shelby GT500 Engine on 97 F150

Starting this project after a month and I am almost complete in parts gathering.

What I have :

1) GT500 ENGINE
2) tr6060 trans
3) Long hurst shifter
4) Driveshaft thats ready to be cut as measurements needed (Last step)
5) 2 aeromotive fuel pumps
6) 1000 micron Fuel filter
7) Division x fuel rails
8) Aeromotive fuel regulator kit
9) Hydraulic Booster (For the bigass 4v Cyl heads )
10) dual 600 cfm radiator slim fans with relays
11) gt500 Engine control pak
12) gt500 complete engine trans harness
13) Electronic throttle pedal
14) Spec clutch stage 2
15) Mcleod Hydraulic adj. master cylinder

I am pretty much ready for the swap except that I would need your opinions on what I am missing for the swap.

Currently the truck is 4x4 but am ditching that because I don't really need 4x4 to where I drive it.

I would also please ask the expert electricians to support me into making the cluster useful if not then Id get the gt500 cluster but wouldnt know how to wire it out.

Tips or solutions onto finishing this electrcal issue.

Thanks.

Are you planning on leaving the front axle in place? I'm curious what your plans are if you aren't.

I won't be needing them anymore since the TR6060 is longer than the old M50D-R2. I'll be dropping the transfer case as well.

So I guess you're removing the differential and drive axles. What are the plans to seal the holes in the hubs where the drive axle would go in?

I could probably come up with some ideas if I saw what it looked like without the drive axles installed. I never pulled mine off the 97 I had.

Easiest thing to do, would be to separate the input-shaft that goes into the hub from the rest of the Axel Assy, & reinstall it.

I'm no 4x4 expert, especially on the 97-03 trucks, but could you swap to 2wd spindles?

no you cannot switch to 2wd spindles. The whole front end on the 10th gen f-150s is entirely different in between 4x4 and 4x2. If i was you i would ditch the tr6060 and find a built 4r100 and keep 4x4. It will save the headache in the long run. What motor are you swapping from?

To me it sounds like a bad swap sorry! I'd minimum find a 2 wd drive f-150 and I'd strongly consider a mustang for that engine.

I agree, or at least a nice 2wd truck

This thread is an example of not looking at the whole job before investing money and time only to find out how much bigger and expensive it will be in the end.
.
One thread came about from what was a simple swap for an 02 5.4 into a 97 to replace a 4.6.
They could not get the motor to run unless fuel was sprayed into the intake.
Wonder of all wonders!
They never knew about the PATs and other requirements that make the swap complex.
And so it goes with back yard engineering.
Do the research first, then think about it a good amount of time to be sure you want to go for it.
Good luck.

I can dissable Pats, equizzers on my own.

I have abuilt 5.4L lightning with a 3.4L whipple
a built 04 Mustang cobra with stock eaton
ls3 swapped 1993 mazda RX7
AND i HAD HUUUGE issues finding a good 4R700 or a M50D-R2 I did however order a built 4R70 in the past and that **** cracked after some inner gears broke and cracked the case.

I will have no issues with this build but only with using the stock cluster (that can be easily replaced and that is a problem I will deal with after everything is done.

I have a complete 07 GT500 motor and trans given to me by a friend because he couldn't pay what he owed me.

Same thing goes with the control pack for the GT500..

I will be using a hydraulic booster.. which is bought yesterday.

As for the axles I'll take down the whole thing and If I had to I might cut the axles right before the spindles and keep it that way. I already got a whole return style fuel system read with relays and wires..

I will also custom make the driveshaft and transmission mount. I already have a hurst long shifter handle and the f150 was a manual already so swapping in the hydraulics using a mustangs pedal isn't a problem.. Just needs the time and precision.

I will keep you guys updated..
