Rims and Tires 97 F150

I have a 97 F150 4X4 that I am ready to purchase rims and tires for. I have already decided on the 295/65R20 Nitto Trail Grapplers. The issue I am running into is trying to get the look I want out of the rims. I would like to have them stick out a little from the truck body, but I do not understand the offset regardless how much I read about it. I want the truck short and stalky. I looked at the deep lip rims, but am afraid that the addtional space added by installing a bolt pattern conversion would make them stick out too far. I'm lost and afraid I would spend a ton of money and still not be happy with the look. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

The tire you picked would most likely go on a 8.5 wide rim. The stock rim is around 0 to -12 offset. Most guys I know run a 4 inch back space with the look you want. Depending on the width of the rim would determine the amount of - backspace needed for that look.
