F-150 4.6 2v vs Mustang 4.6 2v
I’m not sure if this has been answered or not, i couldn’t find any threads on it so i decided to start my own. i’m in the process of rebuilding my 98 f150 with a 4.6 Block and internals along with 5.4 2v heads. i’m in search of a full gasket kit that’s not to expensive, the only full gasket sets i can find that include all the lowers and upper end gaskets are for the mustang 2v and crown vic 2v, i don’t think there is a major difference as far as the gaskets go but i wanted to ask on here for some assurance that i’m getting the right thing, also would the gaskets for the 5.4 heads differ from the 4.6? any knowledge or links would be greatly appreciated! thanks in advanced!

Are the 5.4 heads PI or non-PI? You will need 4.6 manifolds that match. In the F150, 4.6 was non-PI till sometime in 2001, the 5.4 was non-PI in 97 and 98. There WILL be a gasket difference between PI and non-PI. PI heads on a non-PI block will have very high compression, over 10:1, because pistons are different.

The 5.4 heads are non pi, the truck was special ordered from the factory by the previous owner as it is, 4.6 block with 5.4 heads, i’m the second owner. idk why they didn’t just go with a 5.4 but that’s beyond the point, i’m just wanting to know if there was any major differences with the head gaskets between the non pi 4.6 heads and the non pi 5.4 heads
