Need front end suspension advice

I have a 99 f150, 2wd, with the 4.6. The steering has become squirrelly. My ball joints and linkage bolts are not that old. My other bushings don't look bad visually. My shocks are getting old. I want to lower the stance a couple of inches. What kit should I be looking for? Is there any specific brand that you recommend?

If you don't know how to check everything for wear, take it to a shop than can. Typically, the tie rod ends wear out, the idler arm wears, maybe the pitman arm, the sway bar bushings, as well as the ball joints.

Typically a squirrelly front end would mean loose/worn tie rods. But it could be a combination of items that is throwing off the steering angles.

Check and replace: (in order of most likely to wear to least likely to wear)
Outer tie rods
Inner tie rods
Idler arm
Pitman arm

Check upper and lower ball joints

and then alignment
