2004 F150 Price Increase?
I currently own a 2002 f150 Lariat. It had at the time a base price of $28,660. I was looking at a 2004 with a base of $32,115. The difference as far as i can tell in the two in added functionality is that the 2004 has a 5.4l vs my current model of 4.6l (granted they are two entirely different trucks). Has there been a price increase? One more thing, this is base pricing without any incentives offerred at the time I purchased my 2002. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks.

There are a lot of standard thigns on the 2004 model, like the 5.4L engine, message center, overhead console, and many more. Comparing base model is usually not fair becuase few people actually have a no option truck. You can build a 2004 truck and put on the same, or closest equipment to what your 2002 model has and compare the prices then.
However, there have been price increases, basically to compensate for the incentives they offered on late 2002 and 2003 models. I ordered my 99 F-150 which had a sticker price about $3000 less than a similar 2004 model I just price out.

That is good to know, that means in my case, $3400 - $800, would pay an additional $2600 for a vehicle which is "upgraded" in terms of technology and other luxery's : greater payload, much quieter ride, modular overhead system, tailgate assist, homelink, message center. Still trying to justify it to myself...and then the boss......(read wife).

There's only one truly disturbing factor with the price increase for the 2004 model. Where the '97-'03 models were built of parts that were 95% U.S./Canada made, the '04 is now 85%. The price went up, while more parts are now made overseas and south of the border. I know its the way all manufacturing is going, and it truly is a matter of survival, but that doesn't mean I have to like it.
