Unhappy salesman says no female plug in tow package

jsut got off the phone with my salesman,, had the tow package installed on my 2004 xlt,, looked through out truck for the 7 pin female plug to wire to my trailer and which would plug into the 7 pin plug installed on the truck,, could not find,, called salesman and he says they don't give you the female 7 pin plug and that i would have to buy my own,, does this make sense,, it's a tow package,,on my 93 when i got it i got the female plug to attach to the trailer ???????? why would they just install the male plug on the truck and tell you to get your own female,, isn't it a kit ??
thanks guys for any info

Just checked, what you found in your glove box is the harness and fuse to wire in the brake system under your dash, not the male plug you will need. Tow package from factory on mine, no female plug. They asume that the plug is already on the trialer you will pull.

Are you talking about the brake control pigtail? If so they do come with the trailer tow package, but any adapters from the trailer plug at the back of the truck to other pinouts aren't included.

Yes, the brake control pigtail, and your right on your other point. I guess another reason you don't get one is because it's not attached to the truck, to easy to get lost before you get your truck from the dealer. It would be costly for them having to replace female plugs on trucks that would of had them missing or more to the point, it's not included to save Ford $$$$$

I bought one on ebay for 10 bucks. My Lariat has a 4 pin plug wired in the back, but I like the 7-pin adapter better (easier to plug my trailer harness into)

My 00 XLT didn't have one in the glovebox w/ the controller wiring; however, I had test driven trucks that had the 7 pin to 4 pin adapter tossed in the glovebox. I called my salesman and he mailed one to me.

Ditto. They're on ebay all the time.

BTW, my 2001 SCREW didn't come with one either.

If you are talking about that 7 to 4 pin adapter that came with the old f150s, you don't need it. My '04 has both the 7 pin and 4 pin plugs built right into the wiring harness. If you look just to the left of your hitch, there is the 7 pin connector we are familiar with, and next to that, the 4 pin connector.

Yea, that's what mine has too. Pretty much both of the standards. Although I did have to trim some of the rubber from around my 4 pin connector because it wouldn't connect properly because of the rubber boot surrounding it. No big deal though.

Glad to see FORD has both systems on the trucks now.
