Buying a new F150
Hi, i currently own a chevy cavalier z24...it was heavily modded, but i think ive grown out of that stage, and ive got my heart set on buying a new f150 fx4...im currently bidding on one on ebay, fully loaded leather interior moon roof, the works, and just wondering how everyone likes their trucks, im a firefighter, so i know how to drive a rig, just wondering how it is, any tips or info you could give me is appreciated, i will not be modifying the truck other then lights an siren, and a bed cover....so any help would be nice, thanks again....

Hey DrPaul, Im sure you will love the truck. as long as the truck has been well cared for I wouldnt worry about the mileage. I have the FX4 with black leather, and about 12,300 miles on it. I picked up a friend the other day and the first thing he said when he got in was "damn, this thing still looks and smells brand new". That made me feel good.
AS far as EBAY, im sure they have rules and regulations on vehicles where if its mis-represented when you do finally see it in person, you wont be bound to buy it. THere have been some great deals on Ebay as well as some pretty shady deals. Just do your research and check pricing with a local dealership. You may find one on a lot somewhere for around the same price. Good luck and let us know how you make out.
Where the heck is ridgefield??

What a coincidence...I have a 2002 cavalier sport coupe and also just bought a fully loaded FX4 supercab.

The new f-150 is awesome. Though i'm willing to put odds on your getting a NEW one from a dealer for the price that one on ebay is ( if not cheaper ) better yet wait 'til the end of August , these dealers want to move these .... good luck with your choice you'll love it that's for sure.. a great truck..

well, i might not be gettin that one on ebay, i keep gettin outbid, and i actually found one also on ebay, but its from a local dealer, actually in a town i used to live in and my uncle still lives in that town an has bought from that dealer before, so tomorow if i get out of work early enough im gonna swing by an talk with them, if not, gonna go with my uncle on wed. an talk with them, the truck isnt as nice as the other one, but its a BRAND NEW 04 lariat 4x4 with all the goodies only thing it doesnt have is the super crew(its just a crew cab) and it doesnt have the sunroof, i can live without that, even though i love the look of the SCREW, but oh well, cant win em all...an even better, i can trade in my car now instead of tryin to sell it my self , anyway, now whats the big difference between a lariat and a fx4, other then the wood trim? and other subtle differences?

DrP...to some, the differences between one model and another are not so subtle. They may be paramount...e.g. chrome vs. painted bumpers. IMO, once you've experienced the chipped paint and parking lot dings that happen to painted bumpers, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER AGAIN!
Just make sure you get what you want...the selection is great and the prices are getting better each week.
In your locale, there should be a dozen Ford dealers falling all over themselves trying for your business. Arm yourself with negotiating skills and info about invoice prices. The best approach to a dealer is to be 'cool'...they can smell fear, inexperience, naivete', lack of pricing info, and a hungry, anxious buyer. Don't be a victim.
