V6 & Manual Transmission for 2005
From The Car Connection...
Ford Adds V-6 to F-150 Mix
Ford has added an anticipated V-6 model to the F-150 full-size truck lineup for 2005. Last year, Ford said it would carry over the older V-6 truck from the last generation of F-150s, as it gradually changed over its plants to build the new truck. Now in 2005, the V-6 makes its debut along with a manual transmission, also a first in the new body style this year. The base price of the cheapest V-6 F-150 with a manual gearbox will likely be below the $20,550 Ford will ask for the automatic-equipped V-6, though no official price has been set for the manual six-cylinder truck. The 4.2-liter, 202-hp V-6 is carried over from the previous F-150; it will only be offered in rear-drive, regular-cab models beginning late this year.

Ford stakes its very future on the success of a dramatic redesign of the best-selling F-150 pickup.
