Faster Truck

What are the best products I can add to my 2004 SCREW 4X4 to increase performance. Exhaust? Chip/tuner? Air induction?

I don't need to haul *** but I would like to feel a V8 when I stand on it.

Thanks for any help.

Well, depends on what your budget is. I know if I had an extra 5,500 dollars laying around I would most likely get the whipple supercharger which is supposed to increase your hp/tq by 50%.
I on the other hand do not have that just laying around, I went with a supertuner which makes a great difference, soon to get an exhaust system and air intake.

I got the Borla SIDO, K&N FIPK and the Superchip tuner. This does the trick. I don't need any more power then this. Definitely hauls a$$ now.

what kind of V8? Like a Mustang V8?

I can tell you that this 5.4, even in this very heavy truck, is way more of a performer than the 302s and 351s back in the 80s.

Zoltan - Nice pic, looks tough...

J-150 - I have a soft spot in my heart for the 302. My 92 Mustang has that motor and I love it. She's getting old, needs a lot of reworking (which will have to wait for a while with the new truck) but I'll never sell her. She'll still break the tires loose if I stomp the accelerator. I drove it to work this week. The lariat spoils you but my 5.0 is still fun to drive.

My wife keeps asking me when I'm gonna sell it. I told her right after I get a buyer for her.

For zippier performance an intake, exhuast & tuner does the trick. Planning my upgrades as I type. Also, underdrive pulleys give you great bang-for-your-buck. Do all that and your adding 40-50HP for under $1500. Giddy up!

The hot spot seems to be http://www.troyerperformance.com! Don't forget to ask for the F150online discount!!

I have the SuperTuner chip upgrade and Flowmaster exhaust and my truck is very responsive. Next up is an intake and pulley, I can't freaking imagine how fast it would be with a SuperCharger but I will let you all know when I get mine at the end of the year.

From what I've read, you cannot use the SuperChip tuner with the supercharger at the same time. At least, not yet. Maybe somebody will figure out how.

Did you mean to leave the beverage can on the bed rail?

From what I understand you will have to re-program by some means anyways for the fuel to air mix. Least that is what I thought.
