The manual should state the capacity of the tank.
When the Light comes on, fill up.

(Tank Capacity) minus (Gallons put in at fill up) equals (Gallons in tank when Light came on)

Is the tank "full" when the gas pump cuts off the first time?
I can always put 2+ gallons in after the pump cuts off. Yesterday I filled my tank with 26.1 gallons after driving 16+miles with the Low Fuel light on. I could not find anything in the book about Low Fuel warning.
Maybe the tank holds 27 gallons all the way up to the fuel cap.

Ok, Call me stupid - "STUPID", there I did it first, do ALL trucks have the low level light for fuel? I have yet for it to come on, nor have I really looked for it.

Labrador, I think the '04 has a 30 gallon tank, unless you have the Heritage model. The Heritage shortbed would be 25 and the longbed is 30.

FtWorth150. Man, cars and trucks have had 'low fuel' lights for years and years.

Funny guy you are! I understand cars/trucks have had lights for years, in my wifes Olds, the light is right next to the guage, and I found (after rereading the owners manual) the messge center is where the LOW FUEL indication is displayed, no mention of a light.

Yep, if you had my money, you too would never see a LOW FUEL message!

I've had to replace my 'low fuel' light twice because it's always on.
The only time it's off is on pay day when I get six dollars worth of regular.

Low fuel lights are redundant irritants. I don't understand why carmakers see a need for them.

Maybe some customers don't quite get the concept of a fuel guage. You know, that whole "E" and "F" thing can be confusing sometimes. They need a light to tell them to get gas.

I can't imagine why a person would want one in a truck with a 36 gallon tank. It gets 500-600 miles between fill-ups. Surely, the concept of a re-fill dawns on someone after that many miles.

Ahhhhh, whatever.

You might have about 4 to 6 gallons left. When it comes on fill up till it cuts off this will get you a average Shane. LOL i missed that one from Raoul. Shane also if you run that low you better carry a gas can.

The thing that really gets me is that the stinking message center keeps yelling at me about every 8-10 miles until I put gas in the thing. And my message center starts this at 50 miles. I don't think that I've ever been 50 miles from a gas station. Ding,ding,ding,ding... Anyway I'm guessing between 4-5 gallons. Has anyone ran their "distance to E" to zero? I have about 10 miles past and still only took on 28.7 gallons in a 30 gallon tank.

Edited for my stupidity in realizing I was in the '04 150 club by mistake...

Not that I have anything against women but some people really do believe that the car should be telling them something (buzzing/flashing lights) when something is wrong. Reminds me of an old episode of "Tool Time" when Jill ran the car without any oil pressure and she claimed that the car didn't make any buzzing indicator noises on the dash....Tim Taylor was like....."It's a car not a damn game show!!!"

All I know is there isn't enough gas left!!

I have run out three times now :o

I know for a fact if you are going 140Km/hr (~90Mi/hr) you have about 45 km (~28 mi) left after the light comes on....plus maybe 2 km of coasting

I'd say normal driving there is about 50 km of driving left....as I write this the fuel light is on in the truck now and I forgot to get gas yesterday so I maybe have 10 km left....this will probably be number 4 for me as the gas station is more than 10 km's away

I wish I could adjust the low fuel message with the Superchips tuner.
I came from a 97 f150 and I could drive forever when the light came on....I'm just not used to filling up when the needle approaches E
